THE AMERICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL

FEBRUARY 21-22, 2026

Graham's Farm - 748 MCCUTCHEON RD. Lake City, SC. Home of the Swamp Fox- Where Francis Marion brought British prisoners and staged attacks in 1780.

Uncovering a Legacy: The Artifacts and History of Graham’s Farm

The history of this land isn't just a story—it’s a tangible connection to the birth of South Carolina. After a decade of painstaking research, current owner Paul Graham unearthed a treasure trove of artifacts hidden in his great-uncle’s attic: furniture from the 1700s, a 1776 coin, and a rare 1785 document signed by William Moultrie. Most significantly, original receipts confirm that 23 British prisoners were staged right here following the Battle of Tearcoat.

These finds aren't just family heirlooms; they are documented proof that Graham’s Historic Farm served as a vital sanctuary for Francis Marion’s men during the Revolutionary War. We hold the American Heritage Festival every year to honor this legacy, transforming the dirt roads and swamp edges back into the living, breathing history they once were.
